Description of Experience

I am a practicing biostatistician. I worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 36 years. I retired in 2013. My specific field of expertise is the design and analysis of vaccine clinical trials. I work on vaccine development, evaluation, and research. At present I am a consultant and am working with Epicentre which is a Doctors without Borders research institute located in Paris, France. I am also working with The Task Force for Global Health in Decatur which is affiliated with Emory University. I am also working with PATH (Program for Technology in Health) based in Seattle and funded by the Gates Foundation. Also doing some consulting with a group at NIH on an HPV vaccine (also funded by Gates).

Past Projects

I was a member of the BC Internet Task Force. Professionally, I was the lead statistician on the immunogenicity part of the largest human clinical trial ever conducted to study the anthrax vaccine administered to military personnel and first-responders. I was also a Senior Biostatistician on the Meningitis Vaccine Project (managed by PATH) which developed a Group A mening vaccine now being administered in sub-Saharan Africa. It has effectively eliminated seasonal epidemics of disease of mening, Group A which led to hundreds of thousand of deaths annually.
